With an early dream of the Olympics, Samuel ran long distances during his high school in his native Kenya. In view of his performance, Lamar University awarded him a full scholarship to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Health. He became a collegiate standout in track and field and cross country, and continued to improve after he joined the Army. Since enlisting, he has won two Marine Corps Marathons, placed second in an Army Ten Miler, and collected other awards from across the country.

2018 - 4th Place, USA Half Marathon Championships, with a time of 1:03:12
2017 - 5th Place, USA Marathon Championships, with a time of 2:13:25
2017 - 2nd Place Army Ten Miler with a time of 50 minutes 
2017 - 6th Place, 20km, USA Championships, with a time of 1:01:15
2016 - 1st Place, Marine Corps Martathon, with a time of 2:23
2014 - 1st Place, Marine Corps Marathon, with a time of 2:22
