A high school basketball, football, and track star, Hakeem Abdul-Saboor grew up an athlete, but not a bobsledder. After an impressive performance as a running back for the University of Virginia's College at Wise, he figured his athletic days were over. A strength coach later saw a video of Hakeem jumping to touch his head to a ten-foot ceiling…and the conversations that followed led him onto his current path as a brakeman for the two- and four-man bobsled. Hakeem represented Team USA at the 2018 & 2022 Winter Olympics as pusher—and he expects even greater heights going into the  2026 games.

It is an amazing feeling to know that I have not only my country rooting for me, but also my fellow Soldiers rooting for me. I compete for every single one of us.
