A high school basketball, football, and track star, Hakeem Abdul-Saboor grew up an athlete, but not a bobsledder. After an impressive performance as a running back for the University of Virginia's College at Wise, he figured his athletic days were over. A strength coach later saw a video of Hakeem jumping to touch his head to a ten-foot ceiling…and the conversations that followed led him onto his current path as a brakeman for the two- and four-man bobsled. Hakeem represented Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics as pusher for two different bobsled crews—and he expects even greater heights at the 2022 games.

It is an amazing feeling to know that I have not only my country rooting for me, but also my fellow Soldiers rooting for me. I compete for every single one of us.
