PFC Starr Alicia Penrose first stepped into a boxing gym at just 10 years old after her parents wanted their children to learn self-defense. What began as a family lesson quickly became a lifelong passion. After losing her first bout, Penrose found the determination to keep fighting, earning a victory in her second match and never looking back. The Fort Bragg, North Carolina native became an eight-time national champion and built an impressive amateur résumé before joining the Army in 2025. Raised in a military family, Penrose was inspired by Army values and wanted the opportunity to serve while continuing to pursue her dreams in boxing. Through the Army World Class Athlete Program, she proudly represents both her country and her sport, balancing military readiness with elite competition as she works toward competing on the world's biggest stages.
