1LT Samuel Proctor's athletic journey took an unexpected turn after his plans to pursue basketball changed. While attending the United States Military Academy, he discovered team handball and quickly fell in love with its fast-paced, highly physical style and emphasis on teamwork. His commitment to the sport grew after earning an invitation to the U.S. Under-21 National Team following the 2022 Club National Championships, confirming he had the potential to compete internationally. A native of Redlands, California, Proctor joined the Army because he wanted to lead Soldiers and inspire others through service. As a Field Artillery officer, he believes the leadership lessons learned in uniform directly translate to success in sport. Now competing with the Army World Class Athlete Program, Proctor is pursuing his Olympic aspirations while proudly representing the Army, striving to be an example of faith, perseverance, and selfless service both on and off the court.
