Most world-class athletes specialize early in their sports, but not Nahiela. She moved around growing up, so missed the opportunity to try other sports. It wasn’t until her junior year of high school that she pursued wrestling – as a means of getting in shape for the military. She loved the challenges, as well as the success she found. She won CIF state in her second year of wrestling, and competed at Wayland Baptist University and McKendree University during her collegiate career. Since joining the Army, she has competed with WCAP at the 2019 US Open National and World Team Trials, earning a 4^th place finish in each.
